Disney Parks and Experiences has exciting news for all Disney lovers out there! A new attraction is coming to the Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort in 2024 – Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. This new adventure ride is based on the famous character, Princess Tiana, from “The Princess and the Frog” movies which will bring the guests into the magical world of the bayou.
Who will be part of the Tiana’s Bayou Adventure cast?
Princess Tiana’s bayou world brings with it new and fascinating cast members, including a group of original characters that come with distinct personalities, new audio-animatronics figures, and adorable critters with incredible talent. Bruno Campos, Michael Leon Wooley, and Anika Noni Rose, respectively reprising their roles as Prince Naveen, Louis, and Princess Tiana, will be joined by other characters from the movie. Familiar faces from the film such as Mama Odie, Eudora, Charlotte, “Big Daddy,” the King and Queen of Maldonia, and Prince Ralphie will also be part of the attraction.
Mama Odie’s Role
Legendary actress Jenifer Lewis, who starred as the voice of Mama Odie in “The Princess and the Frog,” will return to her role for this attraction. Mama Odie, the quirky two-hundred-year-old Bayou Fairy Godmother, with her eccentric belongings and “seeing-eye snake,” Juju, plays a significant role in Tiana’s story as the catalyst to the magic. Mama Odie will join a cast of familiar and new friends in Princess Tiana’s debut attraction, and her humor-filled conversation along with her magical powers before jumping on a journey would surely delight the visitors.
What Should You Expect from Tiana’s Bayou Adventure?
The attraction is not only about the cast but also about the ambiance it creates, complete with music and scents. The guests will enjoy the new, original music alongside their favorite tunes from the movie, and the aroma of beignets being cooked for the party will be part of the attraction queue. This musical journey will build on Princess Tiana’s story and present a blend of musical gumbo’s diverse flavors found in New Orleans!
Sharika Mahdi’s Role
Disney’s Imagineers- the creative minds behind the attraction – has been working along with Sharika Mahdi to bring the artwork into reality. Sharika is a New Orleans artist who has worked with YAYA Arts Center, and her artwork has inspired the work on the attraction with a local’s perspective.
When to Expect the Attraction?
To make way for the new attraction, Splash Mountain will be closed on May 31, 2023. The highly-awaited Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will officially open in Disneyland Park at the Disneyland Resort and Magic Kingdom Park at the Walt Disney World Resort in 2024.
